If you have been around for a while, you are sure to know one of Baltimore’s Liveliest bands, Mambo Combo!

We are VERY excited that they are going to bring their party here for our July 12 Sunset Concert.

Mambo Combo is has been popular in these parts for 42 years! The band has brought it’s blend of Latin and Caribbean dance music to thousands in the Mid- Atlantic region, winning “Best Latin Band” from the DC WHAMMY Awards.

 From the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, Long Island to The White House Easter Egg hunt, and summer concerts season after season in Washington, DC, Northern VA, the band has kept the dance party going, specializing in outdoor family- friendly events. Recent Baltimore area shows include Belvedere Square, Harborplace, Rockville Town Center, Whitemarsh Town Center, Andy Nelson’s Barbecue, Rotunda Rocks, and Fleet Week in Downtown Baltimore, to name just a few. Tropical outfits plus infectious Soca and Samba rhythms, Salsa and tango, Cha Cha Cha, Merengue and Bachata…make for a memorable evening of dancing and enjoyment on a summer evening. We hope you’ll join us!

The band members have taken on nicknames which they use to refer to each other during the show:

Hoppy Hopkins (“Rudy”) is the percussionist and front-man. Rudy’s frenetic energy and stylish outfits have drawn the crowds as much as his unique drumming style.

Other founding member Robert Friedman (“Shamwow”) prefers to stay in the background playing keyboard and guitar. His compositions featuring guitar have added a depth to the Mambo sound.

Rob White (“Pucho”) brings his passionate Cuban and African rhythms to the band.

Samuel Munguia (“Sammy”) hails from El Salvador and brings an impassioned virtuosity and deep understanding of Latin grooves.

Completing this five-piece ensemble is Larry Melton (“Akimbo”). Years of playing in many bands on both coasts have honed his unique fretless- and Jazz-bass style.
