Our Farm Family

Husband and wife team, Mark Elmore and Helen Norman, along with sons Peter (head farmer) and Patrick Elmore (videographer), are the foundation of Star Bright Farm, but as any farmer will tell you, raising crops and caring for land takes a village of dedicated, hard-working people. Over the years, the Star Bright Farm “family” has expanded as the Barn Market, special events, farm-to-home products and crops have diversified and reached larger audiences.

Today, what was once borne on the wings of a family’s dreams has now grown to a talented team of passionate, nature-centric employees affectionately known as the Star Bright Farm Family.

Whether you’re attending an event at the Farm, ordering online from the Barn Market, or visiting the booth at a local farmer’s market, we encourage you to know our team that’s working to make your experience at Star Bright Farm unforgettable.

Helen Norman

Owner/Photographer

Helen has a knack for creating a simply elegant aesthetic at Star Bright Farm, leaning on her keen eye as a fashion and lifestyle photographer to influence her Barn Market curations, product development, and countryside landscapes that make the property so appealing to visitors. Raised in nearby Baldwin, Maryland, Helen has a deep appreciation for agriculture in Baltimore County and a tireless work ethic to constantly improve and celebrate the 130-acre farm she and her family have lovingly restored to call home, and now business. Together with her husband, Mark, Helen has sought inspiration from all corners of the world to make Star Bright Farm a destination to treasure every day of the year.

Mark Elmore

Owner/Marketing Executive

Owner/advertising and marketing executive. When not creating award-winning advertising campaigns with his company, Gaga Marketing, Mark can be found tackling whatever needs to be done around the Farm. Whether it’s helping with a harvest, nurturing new business connections or pulling kids around the fields in a wagon at an event, Mark is there to lend a hand, always with a smile. Together with Helen, he has poured his soul into the restoration of this 1850s property, turning a dilapidated pile of stone and outbuildings into a haven for their family and guests. He embraces the balanced, elemental lifestyle of Star Bright Farm and savors the opportunity to share his homestead with the greater community.

Peter Elmore

Head Farmer

Peter is the oldest son of Helen and Mark and is the head farmer at Star Bright. Childhood exposure to family farming (and a love for skiing) drove him to pursue a degree at the University of Vermont where he studied the magic of permaculture, a practice he now applies at Star Bright Farm. In 2017, Peter officially became head farmer with his first plantings of blueberries and lavender. Today, he presides over 24 different types of herbs grown organically on 3+ acres of land. Read more about Peter’s story in a blog post here.
